... I would suggest that you practice just a little before the test drive then just go for it. I just crossed the 1,000 mile mark on mine and I'm really starting to feel comfortable with her. No more getting nervous at lights! It takes time but you'll get the hang of it. As for the financing, mine was slightly high because I did 72 months. I have excellent credit and I ended up with 3.2% I think. Let me know if you have any more questions.
No problem man. I just bought the car September 1st and like you've read it was a lot of firsts for me too. I had very little manual trans experience prior to the test drive. My dad was cool enough to take me out in his work truck so I could get some time in. Basically, I just wanted to be able to get through the test drive. Although I stalled it a couple times and forgot to take my foot off the gas once when I shifted (revs shot up!) I was definitely glad that I took a few hours to practice before hand because I was able to limp through the test drive and not embarrass myself too much! It doesn't help that I was totally unfamiliar with the car either. I'll be honest, I was nervous as hell but the dealership was great. They didn't give me any crap about any of it....
Hey 9, I think your situation is similar to mine.
I've never had a turbo, manual, performance car, etc. I've been driving a Toyota Corolla since I was 17.
I'm looking at the 2011 WRX, but I'm a little intimidated by the idea of taking a test drive and not knowing stick. How was your experience test driving the car? Did the salesman give you crap for it? Also, if you don't mind me asking, did you finance it, and if so, what kind of interest rate did they give you?
Thanks for the help -- JA
