Wheel gap has nothing to do with wheel size and everything to do with suspension. You could tuck stock tires with no issue on proper suspension.

An 18x9.5 et 38 would require several things on a bugeye.
A 245/255 tire if you ran a 255 that is just more rub or more work to not rub
