    Is there any harm (reduced life?) performing a low level format instead of a quick format?

    What exactly is the difference? I always see the low level format option on the camera but I've never used it.

    You have the S2 - I have the S3. I have chosen the low level - not sure why. The manual specificly states to perform a low level when the card is behaving abnormally.

    I'm pretty sure that your card has been behaving abnormally for some time.

    Between the ears? Oh yes. Many bad clusters that no longer can be written to.

    I've heard from friends that their is no difference, but I don't know personally.

    Hmm well my card has never been abnormal, and what exactly constitutes and an abnormally behaving card I do not know.

    idk what you guys are talking about. but i format my CF card everytime i shoot. just do a full reformate and you should be good
