    Questions on old slr cameras

My sister just gave me these cameras and a few lenses, they were found in her house.

They all seem to be working ok but the prints appear to be dull and not to lively.

    examples

but if i work with them a bit they turn out looking a lot better
    after

Whats wrong with it? I have only been shooting with the srt201 with a 50mm lense. Im going to use the sr-7 with the next roll and see if its the camera. Which camera is better for a slr beginner?

Even with that strange purple line.

I really LOVE the STi picture. Something about the background, and how grainy it is.

    I really like it!

looks like your shutter is getting stuck a little on the one picture. it might only do that on the quicker shutter speeds so shoot a picture at each shutter speed and just the aperture to compensate and keep the same exposure.

where are you having this processed and where are you buying film?

go to a real camera shop and buy film, sometimes the films at drugstores is old and out of date. The film store will have all new film plus a MUCH better selection. They do a much better job of developing and can do a decent job of scaning it to digital. just make sure you tell them not to try and correct the photos for you. Look into transparency film aka slide film(positive) instead of negative, its much more sharper and has much better colors. its expensive to have prints made from a trasparncy(the film and developing are not that expensive) but if you get the film scanned(they are about = to 22mp) you can have great digital prints made, most stuff you see in magazines(thats not shot digitally) is shot on transparency, scaned, and printed
