    Looking for a new lense...suggestions?

Ive been lookin into getting a new lense for my D-50 but i really have no idea what to get. I was thinking of some sort of wide angle or fish-eye within a reasonable price range, but really im open to anything. I already have the standard Nikon 18-55mm F/3.5-4.5G and a Nikkor 55-200mm F/4-5.6G ED zoom. So do any of you have any suggestions on what would be a good next lens?

i have a Sigma 70-200/2.8 that i'm going to put up for sale. it's a great lens, and the only thing that my Nikkor 70-200/2.8 VR is the VR.

for ~$500 you can get a Tokina 12-24/4.0 some say it's sharper than the Nikkor and 1/2 the price.

    Hows about a 105mm 2.8 macro? (My next lens.) Or a 10-22mm?

How much are you wanting for the sigma? And im still somewhat of a noob with D-SLR photography, so what exactly is the benefit of having a fixed 2.8 aperature as opposed to my 4-5.6 aperature nikkor?

I think you can get a pretty damn good one for under $450. As for your other questions, while I'm not the expert, the aperture isn't fixed at 2.8, but the focal length might be.

I also believe that the 4-5.6 doesn't mean a varied opening, it means if you had a full sized 35mm sensor on your camera - which I assume you don't unless you dropped $3k or more, it would be a maximum opening of 4. On a standard digital SLR sensor, the maximum opening would be 5.6

If I'm wrong, please someone shoot me down and set this straight.

Armin? Where you at? Does anyone know the Armin signal??

would like to get $550 shipped (i think it's ~$700 new)

2.8 is fixed Apeture from 70-200mm no matter where you zoom. 2.8 is considered a "faster" lens beause you need less light than say a 4.0

the 4-5.6 on a zoom means at 55mm wide open you get f4 as you zoom to 200mm it'll only be 5.6.

You can have a lot of cheap fun with the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 Shooting with a prime lens will help you develop your composition style, at least it did for me.

You can pick one up for ~$100. Since getting mine, the kit lens has hardly gotten any work. On top of helping you with composition, it will also allow you to shoot in low light.
