Ka'ana had his first birthday over the weekend. Had to embarrass him a bit.

Thanks! We're very proud of how he's grown up. Where he's looking...that's where the food is, lol. 2 person operation for that shoot. One to take photos and one to hold something he really, really wants. He only had it on for maybe 10 minutes but I was surprised he kept it on that long also. I've always messed with his ears, feet, head, etc. to get him comfortable being handled so that may have helped.

He's been a great dog and just starting to get out of his super-puppy phase. Still has a bottomless tank though. He's great with children. We've taught all the neighbor kids how to make him sit, stay, etc. because he likes to run right up to people when he's out. Overwhelming urge to get in people's faces. For kids it works bc he's on the same level. For adults...well we're still working on the jumping thing. The patience you see there is his "indoor patience". Outside, he's got the personality of Dug from the movie "Up"...SQUIRREL! It's a challenge to have a bird dog off leash in a neighborhood where there's so much stimulation. He's great in the woods though.

Thanks for the compliment. Literally every day my wife and I get at least one compliment on the dog at the park we go to. Most people don't see German Shorthaired Pointers in a neighborhood setting because they're difficult to buy from a breeder unless you intend to use them for hunting. Every dog owner in that park has a mutt, a lab, a retriever, or a fu-fu dog,etc. (nothing wrong with the more common dogs by the way. I've had 2 goldens) so Ka'ana sticks out like a sore thumb. Luckily we were able to convince the breeder how active we are that they allowed us to take him in as a pet. RE: Girls... everyday when I'm running at the park solo I must get stopped at least twice for questions about the dog. All those movies where people use dogs to pick up girls... I can see how that would absolutely work. Me, I picked up my wife with my car We've got a Suby family.

Haha, totally over my head. Actually Ka'ana has no idea if he's a girl or a boy since he was neutered at the earliest the vet recommended we could do it.

Had an assignment for work and figured the subject was impressive enough to post some of the photos. This is the first Caterpillar brand mining shovel of it's kind in the US. It was sold into the territory I work in.

Weighs about 315 tons. Over 10 trucks brought the parts in to be put together. 25' tall. Only $4 million if you want to start saving for your own.

I thought the same thing. Having the skid in the bucket adds a whole other perspective to just how big this front shovel is. I was hoping it had a mini-fridge and half bath, lol.
