Nice HDR shot. I've been meaning to get back out there and try some more HDR.

Thanks a lot for the feedback guys, always, nice -

    - I love your quick snap of the flower too, by the way.

    I've just started toying with HDR . . .

Here's another of the same location at night, not sure if I like it as much though.

I might like the night one even better; I like the reflections of the lights on the water.

    What camera are you using?

Ok what is the secret to taking/making these HDR shots. I know HDR stands for High Dynamic Range, and that you somehow convert from 32bit normal pics to 8 or 16 bit pics but thats about it. Can someone do a how too for the Newb?

3 year old, beaten up D70 Nikon -

to be honest, the daytime one I didn't even use a tripod, just braced against a handrail -

I use photomatix pro - a bit pricey, but I got it back when i was a student.

On another note, are any of you guys having trouble posting new threads to the forum?? I can't seem to do it, it comes up and asks me to open some newthread.php file, or save it to disk, but won't post!! grrr....

    I'll go and test.

I'm using a D70s, by the way. I like it because I can set the bracketing up to be auto, and I just hold the button while it takes the three shots.

Nope, I just created a new thread here in the photo forum. Not sure what the problem is. Try logging out of ClubWRX (clear cookies), and logging back in. Let me know via PM if you continue to have problems.

Is a .tiff file good enough to generate an HDR from? My camera is a Lumix FZ5 (5.1mp, full manual mode, 12x optical zoom, plus add on panoramic/macro lens--decent beginner camera) and the highest res choice is a .tiff. The files are around 14Mb size. I do have a tripod.

I really want a Rebel XTi or Nikon D70 or 80, but for the Amature at this stage $$$ is always an issue. I spent $380 on my current camera and am now considered the resident "photographer" by all my friends , but what to do with this camera if I buy the DSLR is the question.

I've just used "fine" mode JPEG's for my HDR shots. My version of Photomatix only accepts Jpegs, anyway, I think.
