Sounds like you're like me...
My opinion is... The more pictures you take, with the more settings you try... then the more likely one or two of them will turn out right. Sometimes, experience, and skill just isn't a substitute for trying sht!
On my two trips abroad I took a combined 3500 pictures... !!!
And some of them came out pretty incredible!![]()

What kind of setup do you use to shoot? Back when I was hardcore into photography I used a Canon 35mm Rebel SLR. It was basic...but did a nice job and had good functionality. Also had an old Nikon FM2 which was an old workhorse. Mostly shot in black and white, developed my own film and printed my own photos in the darkroom. I wanted an EOS 1-v or a Nikon F-4 so badly. I do miss the fun greatly...just not enough time anymore.

this is my first DSLR.. I've got an old Minolta and Canon 35mm that I've had for prolly 20yrs.. I am an ultimate n00b with DSLR though..
I currently shoot with a Sony Alpha A-100.. still learning it..

Cool stuff. I always felt like digital was the easy way out, kinda cheating and taking the fun and hard work out of photography. Nothing will ever beat the smell of developing chemicals and a red lit darkroom IMO, being in control of the end product...touching it with your hands. Call me old school. Digital def makes life easier as far as photojournalism and commercial photography is concerned though. I feel like the guy defending the typewriter when computers or rather word processors came out.![]()

QFT. (that's "quoted for truth")
I developed my own for years, and had a blast doing it. A nice blend of art and science, IMO. I'd start making prints at 7PM, get really into what I was doing, only to realize that it was 4AM and I had to go to work the next day.![]()

Went down to Wildwood for the weekend, got some decent shots. One of the guys I was hanging out with was a pro and had a D700..gave me a lot of pointers.
