A 50's vintage Buick Special. I've seen it along my route home for months; finally got around to asking the owner for permission to photograph it.

do you shoot all this hdr from a tripod? i tried that photomatrix program but the aligning feature sucks and it wouldn't line up right. it was just enough off to be noticed. also how many images are you getting your composites from?

I use a tripod for all HDR shots. I'm currently using 3 images, -2EV, metered, +2EV for the most part.
I need a better tripod, though, and a remote would be nice. I'm accidentally moving the camera around a tiny bit while taking my 3 shots, I think, and it's messing up the clarity of the final product.

edit: Also, not every shot works well for HDR. It needs to be something where you really gain shadows and highlights by over/underexposing the shot.

It's a beautiful car, though not in perfect condition by a long shot. Yeah, I made a point to ask for permission; seemed like the neighborly thing to do.

Yeah, if you heavily tonemap after you HDR it, it gives it an almost "rendered" look.
