    What camera to buy???

    Camera advice;
i'm in the market for a new camera but don't know what's good or what kind to look at. After looking through members rides i caught the photography bug, and now i'm hooked.
I've been using my dads Cannon AE-1 ( with 55mm lens ) and it's great! The only problem i have with it is; its not digital. So i thing it's time for an upgrade.

Could you give me a few tips, i've never really bought a "decent" camera before. Just kodak two or $10 at Walgreens.

Any info would be much appreciated.
    Thanks-

P.S. i put this in Enthusiast Hangout because i'm srue a lot of you take pics of your subies and it really doesn't fit with any other topic.

digital or film? AE1 is a great film camera, I like the Cannon Elans for film...relatively cheap and lots of features.

Do you want something complex and proffesional or more simple/ beginner friendly.

I have a Canon S2 IS I've been very happy with it. Its a good beginner camera with lots adjustable feature, but still enough automatic modes to make it easy if you don't want to or know how to adjust them.

I'm definitely looking for the simple/ beginner friendly type.
And yes i am looking for digital.

I want something that looks good, but nothing too fancy and technical.

then I'd definitely recomedn the S2 is. Its kind of big but it takes great pictures, is easy to use and has a 12x zoom which is good for car races.

I googled it and it looks great, seems pretty easy to use and fairly good price.

Where would you say to look at for buying?

    Thanks btw,

Canon makes nice stuff. Lots of features, not lots of money. Hard to go wrong with Canon.

i love my Cannon s2 IS
not too complicated for a beginner, and has some great fetures once you get some more expirence.

I have a Canon SD400. its small it takes great pictures, and has lots of features for a small camera like that. if I need anything more complicated/higher quality I whip out the 35mm...or the 2.25"x2.25". That photo degree comes in useful sometimes

you would do well with the S2 IS.

however, you may want to wait, and ge the S3 IS, it has some pretty good upgrades, for overall better image quality.

not to mention it comes in black
