Recently, I had the opportunity to work with Scott Hoag and his team from MRT Performance based out of Plymouth, MI. It started with taking photos of their 2015 TKO Mustang which was a 2014 SEMA vehicle supporting the new ecoboost engine and full customization offered through his facility. After a few conversations it had become apparent that branching outside of American Muscle was of interest and seeing how a tuned exhaust would perform on a JDM vehicle. I was more than confident with Scott and his team knowing of his background and his love for all cars in general. (I've attached a video of Scott below)
We started with my 2012 WRX hatchback which had the SPT exhaust from the factory and ended up with a full turboback designed and tuned for this application. This 3-inch exhaust allows for an unrestricted exhaust flow enabling the car to breath freely, all in which creating an aggressive sound. In order to tame this tone at cruising speeds it includes the very first drone management system available for the WRX, which insures a more comfortable ride for enthusiast. CNC Mandrel bending technology ensures that our turbo-back exhaust systems have smooth bends and precise fit. Built from the highest grade 304 Stainless Steel I know that this system will last for many years to come!
With all of that said, I've been driving the exhaust for about 1 week now (mainly highway) and fall in love with the unique tone it offers ever time I get into the car. The volume is present, but not overbearing due to the drone management. It is almost as if I am more in tune with the driving experience now that the MRT exhaust was installed. Volume-wise, it is slightly louder than the SPT w/a catless downpipe, but you don't receive the head banging headache from highway driving. One of my favorite feature is the quad 4" tips which fill out the rear valance as if they should have come from the factory this way. Check out the pictures and videos below!
