Hey everyone, got my car on 8/14. Got all exterior surfaces and wheels coated with Cquartz Finest done two days after delivery at Signature Detailing in Hillsborough, NJ. Some great guys there, highly recommended.

This is my first Subaru, coming from Hondas. Really looking forward to being part of the online and offline community.

While I am not planning on modifying the car too much other than wheels and maybe suspension. I am also planning on getting the LED 3000K fog lights, most likely the SubiSpeed ones.

Anyway here is the car, was a very long wait.

An since I am an old fart with two kids and two car seats in the back I had to get this car seat covers to match the black seats with red piping.

Thanks for all the welcomes guys.

@jjoakl, I think the best part of the seat covers is that the mats have the red piping that match the red piping in the 2015. This is my 1st Subaru so unsure what your GE has inside. Sounds frivolous, but sometimes its the little things, :D

Sorry, but what do you mean normal? If you check the link in the 1st post you'll see I got the Zone Tech from Amazon. I find them more then bright enough. This pack covered the dome, map, license, and trunk. The Zone Tech pack did not mention how many chips came on their LEDs. SubiSpeed's license plate lights do not say how many chips are on there, but I am sure someone who has them can chime in. But I will say that the license plate lights have a great cutoff, love the look.

I got the vanity lights from VLEDS. Only VLEDs mention how many chips were on each LED, which was 3. SubiSpeed's vanity lights come with 6 so they are brighter. You pay $10 for 2. The VLED's are $2 each. Your choice.

Like I said, I found the ZoneTech's to be more then bright, and if you have Amazon Prime its even better.

Thanks man. The wait does indeed suck, and I think the worst part is depending on where you live you get a car with Summer tires in Winter. I am getting my winter tread put on this Wednesday. Had hoped to burn through the Dunlops, but no dice.

So the family and I went to the Big Apple Circus on 11/16 and parked in a garage right by the Lincoln Center. After getting out of the circus we get to the car and they tell me that they can't bring me my car cause there is another car blocking it, and the driver took the keys

Now this already sounded fishy cause, since when does a lot or garage allow drivers to take their keys? Attendant says he needs to wait for his manager to bring something to move the car blocking mine.

After a long 30-45 mins, which sucked even more cause my two little girls were tired. The car finally pulls up, we start buckling the kids in, and hear my wife ask me to come over to the passenger side. There I see that at some point in the garage they cracked and tore my passenger side rocker panel.

So after a heated "discussion" with the manager I call the cops cause the manager wouldn't give me their insurance info. Before cops get there the manager is telling me they can give me cash, "no thanks". Then about 5 mins before NYPD gets there, he gives me their damage claim report.

The report takes all the pertinent info, and says you can take it to the garages body shop, or get me own 3 estimates, and then submit them to them. Cops finally get there, and pretty much back up what he said. Somehow garages don't have to provide you their insurance, but do have to provide you with this form. Even though in the beginning the manager did not offer the form up. So the nest Monday, I go get 3 estimates and then email them over to the garage. The lowest was $600.19, the OEM rocker panel alone costs $252.35

About a week goes by and nothing, and I follow up about twice. So I get another email on 11/25 saying that their claims rep will reach out shortly. An hour later the manager calls me and says that the estimates are two high, and to bring it to their body shop  I tell him there is no way that is happening. He then offers me $200, again more arguing and he gets to $400, $500. At this point I am resigned that we are headed to small claims court, and tell them as much unless I get the full $600. He pretty much hangs up, and says they will send me the release letter but doesn't say how much they will be paying. I then immediately email the company again to complain.

About 2 hours later I get an email with the letter of release, and the offer to pay the full $600.

For those wondering, this garage did not have a sign about parking at your own risk, or not responsible for damage. But even if they did, this is what I have found about those waivers of liability when parking in a public garage.

" In a simplification of some major technical terms, the courts deem parking garages to be professional bailers, one whose fundamental purpose is to take temporary possession of and car for other people’s cars. And the courts have made it clear that these parking garages cannot waive their duties and absolve themselves of liability for performing their fundamental purpose in a way that causes damage to vehicles. In these states, these waivers or disclaimers have no legal effect. "

Also in regards to the damage, I think the tried to reverse the car onto one of the lifts and the attendant hit it there. The passenger-side mirror was also moved all the way down.

That sux! Makes me sick and it`s not even my car, hope it all works out....I had 3 of those little fender benders with my 12 WRX, not one was my fault and the other parties insurance paid for repairs but I couldn`t stand to look at that car a second more......I traded for the 15 WRX, good luck....

So got my rocker panel fixed about a week ago. Worked out well. The shop got the piece in sprayed it and baked it on a Friday, and then I dropped the car off Monday morning, walked to my train and picked it up the evening.

Also got my snow tires put on the day before Thanksgiving which worked out great cause it snowed while they were being mounted (2-4inches). Got Goodyear UltraGrip Ice WRT.

I have never had any issues driving in snow before, have driven front wheel drive cars with performace all-seasons since I got my license. But the difference with snow tires plus the AWD is nothing short of amazing. They handled great going through curves in the snow, and stopping and going. Plus later that week about an 1 1/2" of rain fell in a day, again no issues with hydroplaning. These tires did a great job of evacuating water.

Did you end up selling your dunlops or will you be putting them on a new set of tires? Car looks good maybe i'll see your around I pass through the area every so often.

Hillside area but I work all the way in Morris Co so I travel around all over and tend to cut through your area some days

Pic heavy -

So did some cosmetic\protective updates to the car recently.

First after I got my winter tires put on not sure if the tech didn't fully tighten the air valve stem or not, and I guess shame on me for not checking how tight they were. Cause I was sure to check the wheels for scratches. But when I checked them all four valve stem covers were on there, but a week later one was missing, :screwy:

Either way went and ordered these, I know from searching that some folks got some nice Prodrive ones which you cant seem to get anymore. But for $6 bucks shipped I thought why not, and on the plus side, my 5 yr old girl likes that these also have the stars on them, :D

Only downside is the locking hexnut sticks out a little and they don't totally go flush onto the valve.

Also Lamin-X had a nice Black Friday sale going on and I took advantage.

Got the yellow fog light film, the door cup protection (2011-2014 model) and a universal 7"x8" 12mm sheet to cover the gas tank. Unfortunately NJ is full service only at gas stations and I can't be sure that the attendant will take as much care opening and closing the gas tank lid as I would.

For the Fog light film I went with the dry install and did not even heat up the film (installed in my insulated garage with insulated door), the fog light area is small enough that if you need to, you can lift an reapply a few times but you shouldn't need to. Just center it, and then press in the middle and work the bubbles out from the middle.

Here is the cutoff,

An here is a shot showing how yellow the lights get from the film. I am still using the OEM bulbs,

For the door cup and gas tank I did heat up the film and use a wet method. Here are my tools, not pictured is the microfiber cloth I used to work the bubbles and water\soap solution out from under the film. I was lucky enough to have order some smoked tail light film and fog light film for my MDX and so I had the trim tool, spray bottle, and the little squeegee tool.

Starting with the door cups, I sprayed 1 1/2 times from the little pump bottle which was filled with a water\soap solution. 2 Sprays is too much, and 1 is not enough. After spraying I used the hair dryer to heat up the film for 30 seconds before applying. Outside the garage was mid 30's, but inside my garage was probably around 50 degrees. Moved the film around till it was in the right spot then used my microfiber cloth to press out the bubbles and solution.

Shot with a couple bubbles remaining,

Shot with it fully applied,

For the gas tank lid, I sprayed the lid 3 times and then heated up the universal sheet for about 60 seconds till it felt nice and pliable to my fingers. I then peeled it and applied. Obviously being a smooth piece of metal makes it much easier to apply and remove the bubbles. Here I used the hair dryer, squeegee, and microfiber in combination to remove bubbles and get the solution out. Once it was dry, and all the bubbles were gone I used the trim tool to slowly go around the tank lid and trimmed all the excess away.

Slight orange peel to the film after the initial install, but seems to have gone away the last couple weeks. Not sure if this is cause I went with the 12mm.

Congrats again Prerak!! I'm glad to see you're doing things right and taking such good care of my baby! Sorry to hear about that parking garage but it looks like it worked out ok in the end at least. The fog overlays look good on a DGM car. For some reason your overlays put out way more yellow light than mine. Any other mods planned?

#29 ·
Not at this time. Unless you call getting the Husky All weather mats "mods" ;). UPS should be delivering them today. I do want to upgrade the DRL\High Beams to LED's. Same color as the fogs, 3000k.

Hopefully some wheels and exhaust in the spring. Taking my time, I only have about 2,600 miles on the car since I got it in 8/2014.

My other customer Marko, "SNE2040" did led drl/hi beams and they look perfect, I would shoot him a PM to ask what brand he got.

So we finally got some snow this week, 3"-4" this past Friday, and another 8"-10" on Monday night into Tuesday :D. Not exactly the historic blizzard they were predicting but I guess beggars cant be choosers, :(

Was able to take the WRX for some snow covered lot fun on the way to sledding by my house. Good times were had by all!

I know that road.

Any problem with your plates scraping being that low?

#33 ·
Hasn't been an issue yet. I am pretty aware of certain driveways, and my previous two cars were both lowered so I am pretty cognizant of taking that angle when pulling out. I was a bit worried when I went through the snow in the pictures above as it was pretty deep. But wasn't an issue

We hit up the hills in the reservation, we normally go to Floods Hill in So. Orange.

Haven't posted anything in my build thread so thought I would mention the DRL\High beam bulbs I added in the early spring. Got the Osram All Season Yellow bulbs,

Amazon.com: OSRAM HB3 Yellow Tinted All Season Bulbs: Automotive

So far have found them great, here are some shots of those Osram HB3 All Season Bulbs I have running in my DRL\High. I took some shots at night and dusk.

Anyway this first shows them running in High beam mode at night against my house from about 40 feet away. You can see the cut off from the yellow and the LED headlights.

This next shot shows them at dusk from the same distant but running in DRL mode and still throwing a good amount of yellow light

Lastly here are two shots of the car head on with the bulbs running in DRL mode to show how yellow they look. One thing to note about the bulbs, is that while running in High Beam mode and looking at them head on they didn't look that yellow  but they still threw a yellow beam as shown in my pics.

Highly recommended.

Some new additions the last few weeks. Got some RokBlokz and emblem overlays. I know its either a love\hate thing with the overlays and so far I like them a lot. I had planned on trying to order or DIY the cherry red stars, and may still go that route if I get bored of these.

I got the 3D carbon fiber look in black with the black stars, and for steering wheel I went same, except matte black stars since they didn't have the normal black. As I am sure others have noted you get an extra pair, so if you do mess up its okay, though this is very unlikely. I still used a small amount of soapy water, and a hair dryer to make the overlay more pliable and dry out the water I had sprayed under it.

2015 Subaru WRX Fender Inlay / Overlay Fender Emblem (Various Colors)

3D Carbon Steering Wheel Emblem Overlay Package - 2015 WRX / 2015 STI

As for the Rokblokz, I went with the shortz. I choose them over the RA's for a couple reasons. The first one is something that I have heard as a downside, the optional decals. I liked that I had a choice of adding the RokBlokz decal and could otherwise leave it blank, as I didn't want a sticker or a factory applied logo. The next was that I liked that the RokBlokz are not glossy, again aesthetics. But I would say most non-engine\suspensions related mods are about just that. Last was price, obviously anyone shopping for mud-flaps has seen the $$$ difference between the two.

Rally Mud Flaps for the 2015+ Subaru WRX/STI Sedan FREE SHIPPING! - rally mud flaps

Installing the fronts was a breeze, just turn the wheels all the way to one side, and you have more then enough room. As for the rears, I really have no idea how some people have installed them without removing the rear tires. Luckily I have a floor jack so lifting the cars a breeze, get those jack stands in and installation is pretty quick. Didn't do a video, but people with much better skills at that then me have already done it.

Onto the pics....
