Jons 2004 WRX Chargespeed widebody. Warning: JDM content.

This is a quick recap of how my WRX came to be. Keep scrolling, eventually you hit the big turbo 400whp stock longblockblock 2.0 good stuff.

When I was 19 I picked up a "rolling" shell of a 2004 WRX with a Chargespeed widebody. I caught a lot of flack from it (understandably, it was in rough shape) and was told that it would never become anything more than a pile. I like motivation like that, so I went straight to work. I think pictures tell the story better than words, so without further ado:

The pictures I took during the first few weeks I had this car were pretty terrible as you can see. Anyway, at this point you're probably in agreement with those who had doubts in the beginning.
I drove it with an EJ205 and a five speed for quite a long time. TD04, basic bolt ons, etc. which obviously didn't fit the car very well. Last year I put in an order to JDM racing motors, Robert is wonderful by the way.

Anyway, I was then hit by a dump truck shortly after that. I had the car up and running again after a month and a half.

This is the final product at the moment:

Shooting for 420whp on E85 this season, so I need to pick up some 1300's and a bigger pump. Head studs are holding me back slightly. I'm also picking up a nice set of TE37SL in 19x10.5 with a 295/30/19.

All mechanical work performed by myself.

It never goes over well with anyone that's into cookie cutters and different forums seem to have different reactions. Nasioc for instance, big cookie cutter group. IWSTI loved it. It's all in what you're into, I got sick of seeing the same Subaru six thousand times.

I understand that. I totally respect the work that went into the car. It looks like you did a fantastic job. It's got a lot more taste to it that some of the 'edgy' designs I've seen. The car still has some class to it.

As you said, I really am kind of into the plain Jane look. That being said, it still looks like you did some solid work on the car. props for that

That was what I was trying really hard to go for. For lack of a better word, Chargespeed kits have always been ricey. I've been walking a very fine line between full blown rice bowl on wheels and relatively clean. Plain Jane works, if it didn't we wouldn't have so many similar builds, it's just not for me.

I love the performance aspect...bet it moves like a bat out of hell.

But, my opinion on the looks...meh. I don't like the kit at all. Yay for JDM Chargespeed and all and kudos if you like it. Lot of time, effort, and money went into it and that I respect. But to me it looks like a bunch of boxy unaerodynamic plastic stuff glued to an already ugly boxy unaerodynamic Subaru. That's not believe in or remotely caring what's cookie cutter...that's just me disliking something.

It's boxy as can be that's for sure. Like you hit on a bit, the GD has never been much of an arrow but if there was one thing I would change about my car I would make it a little less squared off. I wish it was plastic, fiberglass is a nightmare.

Thank you very much! Almost made the mistake of painting it black and decided that I couldn't part with the Red. I am building a Satin White 04 at the moment for my girlfriend that will be sitting on either Illusion Violet wheels or Aztec Teal.

We're at peace, I have a Java Black 04 as well. Pretty stock, typical bolt ons on Gold G-forces. This is a really old picture, don't mind the old DIY V2 garage door strip lip, it's since been taken off hahaha. The widebody was actually originally Java Black as well.

    Did someone say black?

What I like: the motor swap, the paint. Dislikes, wheels and body kit...Probly the most subjective part of any vehicle though.

Did I mention the motor? Keep up the good work.
