    My B-day present to myself...

    Hi everyone,

I've been lurking here for a little bit and using the tips here to do some minor modifications with my WRX. Unfortunately, it was wrecked in a hit and run recently and I never got around to posting any pictures of it. On the brighter side though, I used the insurance money to pick up my new STi! These were taken at the dealership, minutes before I drove away.

(sorry for the bad pics, they were taken with a cell phone by my family)

If you look closely, you can see my awesome rescue puppy!!

No mods yet, but I do intend to dig in once I put some money back into my coffers.

I really didn't get into a regular hit and run (is there such a thing?). A guy clipped my car as he cut me off at about 65mph and I was forced into a utility pole. The pole did all the damage. He or she (don't wanna be sexist here) kept driving. Thankfully, with the help of some witnesses and a police report, the accident was covered by my "uninsured motorist property damage" part of my insurance and I wasn't found at fault.

Understood. I was thinking how something other than maybe a truck could have caused that damage & still been able to drive away. Looks like you were real lucky. Hitting a Utility pole at 65mph is no joke.Hope they catch the bastard.

I consider myself very lucky... I walked away with a couple of bruises on my left arm. Odd thing was, the airbag didn't deploy. I've replayed the incident over and over in my head and every time I can't see me not being injured. I was hit by an older pick-up; the witness said it was a Toyota but not much more than that. Honestly, it happened very fast and shook me up pretty good, so my statement wasn't very useful. Unfortunately, here in El Paso, there are many uninsured drivers and while I keep my hopes up that they are caught, I have my doubts.
