After the new baby I haven't had much free time for anything (including this site). But lately I have made it a point to get out and shoot.. it's one of the things I truly enjoy and probably the main stress reliever I have right now.

This location is actually just five minutes from my house. The structure is on the Austin White Lime rock quarry. It was used in the 1800s to melt the lime with cedar fueled fires, then they would load it onto railroad cars for Southern Pacific. All of the stones are hand chiseled, and I'll tell you.. this is the second creepiest place I have ever been (at 3am).

The quaint little post office here is actually located at the convergence of railroad tracks in the center of the limestone quarry. They have pretty limited hours, but are still functioning.

This panoramic shot I took at the Hamilton Pool Nature Preserve. The full resolution image is nearly 17,500x8000px. It's a really cool location I plan to go back and shoot again soon. It was a family outing, so I had to resist the urge to be behind the lens the entire time.

This shot I took on the way home from Hamilton Pool. Texas Bluebonnets are out in full force right now.

Then I just grabbed this in my back yard this afternoon. The pair was scouting a nest site when I stepped outside, but by the time I got back with my camera the male was up in the tree so I just got the female. I hope to catch the pair out here in the next few days.

Baby pic is awesome - funny they are blue "bonnets".

We have a similar woodpecker (red bellied) but I think you need to see the front to ID yours.
