First Post: My 2011 WRX 5dr Hatch

2011 WRX 5dr Premium
Auto-dimming mirror, Heated seats, Media jacks, hands-free bluetooth

In the year or so that I've had this car, I'm very pleased with it. I'm just as excited to drive it as I was driving off the lot. The mod bug is still itching and the warranty is still ticking. One day, I might even say F-it, TD04 Garrett Turbo! But until then, turbo supporting mods, and aesthetics. I'm going to ride this mild 91 octane tune for a while longer and tuck her away in the garage for a while.

To answer your question, no - the tint will not affect your auto-dimming mirror. A light sensor in the mirror compares the amount of light reflected around it / the mirror to the rest of the light in the cabin. It then uses an electrochromic gel to darken/lighten the mirror's reflection to better match the rest of the ambient light around you. So if you have a tint on your rear window, it will simply let less light in. This in turn will not do anything bad to your auto-dimming mirror, it will just dim less because less light is passing through the rear window and meeting the sensor.

Good to know, and I def need to get this car tinted. The paint job almost demands that the windows be tinted. Red overlays on the rear lights would look nice too. Thanks for the reassurance!

the rims and wide body style always makes me feel like a re re when I bought my 10, but I still love her and hey it's just looks right....RIGHT??!?! damn I wish I had those stock rims...

Congrats on the purchase! Did you buy the car with the exhaust & finishers, or put them on yourself? When I ordered mine, I couldn't get the finishers and SPT exhaust together.

You may want to consider other boost gauge options, as the SPT is pricey.

Congrats on the new ride and excellent color choice as well. I had mine tinted at 15% and it didn't mess up my auto dimmer. Red tail covers would look nice. I did lamin-x tail covers in gunsmoke on my car and it looks pretty sweet. Anyways, best of luck and enjoy!

mmkay broseph, now you're making my decision harder. Smoked rear lights does look great with a tint and that color. I might just photoshop a photo of our cars and change a few colors to see what it looks like.
