Random question, any reason you went with the tow hitch carrier for the bikes of a roof rack? I'm just assuming you already had the hitch carrier?

Yes! To answer your question, I'm too damn forgetful of the bike on top, and have damaged my bike, car roof, garage door trim, etc (you get the picture) more times than I care to. Also, the hitch level racks only require lifting the bikes a few inches instead of the lift/clean/jerk needed to get bikes up on the roof. Not a problem for those super light carbon road bikes, but for my mountain bike, I'd don't need that type of awkward lifting.

Finally, rear mounted racks offer better aerodynamics, which will help the fuel economy for the longer drives.

And no, I had the hitch mounted specifically for this rack, but now I have options for other types of hitch mounted stuff! It's a very clean look when the rack isn't on - hidden behind the bumper so that only the receiver shows, which can be plugged with some sort of decorative cover.

Congrats! Don't wanna jack your thread, but....Red Overlays....they totally change the look for the better. Smoked overlays would look good with the dark paint too.
