What's wrong with an auctioned car?
Car looks good. Staying modest (StageII+) with this one?

There were a lot of personal reasons why I stopped doing it and bought a new car...part of it was that it became less fun and more money intensive. I'm not saying that I didn't know how much money I was going to spend initially but that was supposed to be somewhat fun. There are other reasons why but its not due to a failed project or anything, was a decision I made before I got too deep into it (I only went 1/4 deep lol).
FYI, all the motor parts bought are being sold...

Anyways, here is a picture of it...its a 2009 Subaru STi, 29,000 miles on it...100% stock, brand new tires. Was traded in because the previous owner joined the army and was traded in 3 weeks ago at this dealer, so its not one of those auctioned cars. I got a good deal for it and its exactly what I was looking for.

I didn't mean to make it sound like there was something wrong with it...I only said it because thats how I knew about the info on the previous owner.
I'm staying stock for a while to be honest. My main thing was to have a nice comfortable quick daily driver which it is. It helps me get around slow cars in NJ and aggressive SOBs in NJ as well. Plus I got larger car payments than I did before![]()

i said this once to someone, thought it was a good example...
i have a lot of time looking at the stock tune. its very unsafe for any boost! when in boost a perfect target is about 10.8-11.2 AFR. the stock tune WILL allow full boost and WILL run about 14.5 AFR all the way to about 4500 RPM (max boost has already come). 14.5 AFR is target for normal driving or what they call stoich/stoichiometric ratio/per unit air. this happens because of a long CL/OL (closed loop/open loop) time delay. every tuner sets this to zero i believe so your not running super lean during the transition time going from normal driving to wide open throttle (hense CL/OL time delay in the ECU). now your car has a back up item so your motor doesnt blow up "kinda". its called your knock sensor. when you run that lean you will be knocking like a mofo! when knocking the ECU will pull timing but it will not pull boost or increase fuel. basically its all bad.
here is a pic of an OEM tune knocking a few times and losing a ton of power due to pulled timing. the bad thing about our motors is our pistons are not that strong. enough knock events even with pulled timing can form micro cracks or even break the ringlands of the pistons. if they slightly mirco crack it wont take much time after increasing power for a piston to completely break.
also in 08 on the wrx and sti subaru started doing this "balance hose" thing on the fuel system. its a hose that will allow fuel coming from the tank to go into the return line. every car i have ever worked on the fuel system has always been a straight line. fuel from tank, through injectors, back to tank. a lot of tuners have hated this balance hose and most remove it. it also helps because a lot of these car have this stumble on decel.
PS since 08+'s starting breaking as much or a little more then older models im about 98% sure you only get a 1 time free motor replacement.
