How did you get the red into your gauge cluster? Did you just change the bulbs, or did you have to do something more complex?

There's different ways you can do it as far as getting the color you want. Some people buy the little red rubber pieces that go over the lights, others cut out transparent colored plastic sheets, or in my case a red sharpie You can find the DIY all over the place.

So the actual part of the cluster that the lights shine through is not tinted green already? It is clear and then just the bulbs make the color?

This link is what i used to go off of for dis assembly. Interior Color Change Tutorial: Gauge Cluster - NASIOC

This one shows what it looks like with the parts off the cluster. http://www.scoobymods.com/diy-wrx-ga...ac-t11003.html

On the back side of the cluster there is a green film that was glued/stuck onto it. In the 1st link the guy uses sand paper and leaves the cluster assembled. What i did is chose to pull the separate parts off(there are small metal bent tabs on the back side of the cluster that if you straiten will allow you to pull them off. I then used rubbing alcohol to soften up the film(or whatever it is), then used different knives to scrape it off. The number one thing to know is to take your time!! If you break a needle or something you'll be very upset.

Now as for how to get your color. You can either choose to buy the little bulb covers, do what the guy did in the second link with the plastic, or go the cheap way and sharpie your bulbs. I also sharpied the white on the front so it is a better red.

To change the color in the HVAC cluster all you have to do is pull the face off, then pull the little green rubbers off the bulbs and put new bulb cover on, or what i did was sharpie the bulbs red and sharpie the back of the cluster red.

Hope this helped a little bit. Again, you can find some more DIY that people have done. All of which are generally the same.

Well like everybody else I didn't really want to open the thread but I did. Nice job. Doing just the vents on either side is a nice touch that sets it off well. Just don't think that adding another accent on another part will make it look even better. Leave it alone!

Nice work with the paint. I just did mine too cause there were some scratches that were driving me crazy. How did you paint the hazard light button without coloring the hazard triangle?
