The Triumphant Return of the Nikon, Backpacking, Yada Yada Yada...

A quick there-and-back overnighter in the Middle Prong Wilderness of NC. Short trip, so I hefted the heavier D70s instead of the little camera. Storm systems brewed for most of the trip, though they managed to miss us and rain on other mountains. Good times.

It was very therapeutic. Chewin' the fat, taking pics, sipping coffee, and watching the clouds go by.

BTW, Andrew, you're right about Fbook and pics. It's like they've been run through a "remove contrast" filter or something after they upload there. Interesting comparing those with these that I hosted.

Yes when I read Nerdback Mountain in the caption I hit the floor laughing, fantastic.

Love the pics. What lens(es)? I can't tell from the EXIF data.

It's just the kit 18-70 zoom lens that came with the D70s, nothing special. Honestly, I've never been really happy with it; I'd like to just get a decent fixed focal length lens for it and call it a day. I seemed to have better luck with those in my film days.

Just the kit lens? Wow. I'm really impressed with it actually.

Nice shots Ray! That 18-70mm can sell pretty well since it's probably the best kit lens Nikon's ever produced. I really like your last leaf shot

Sweet pics Ray, especially the sunset tent pic. I bought the 18-135 with my D80 and it served me well for a couple years. I have a 50 and 85 f1.8 and am picking up a 24 pretty soon to round out the set.

Thanks for the compliments! I really enjoyed my time with the Nikon over the weekend; seeing what some of you guys can do has gotten me thinking about photography again.
