    Looking for a DSLR

So my old sony dsc-w5 camera is about obsolete right now regarding the fact that it eats batteries. I think it's about time to upgrade

I was looking at DSLR cameras, since it's been about 2 years I have wanted one. I like the manual options, and the fact that you have to have skill to actually use them.

    I need some suggestions!!

I was thinking the Nikon D40, but I want video recording too. Anyone have any ideas?

Although I won't be new to photography, I will be new to DSLRs

My budget is pretty low, i'm not willing to break 600 bucks really, since I just bought a car and don't want to spend all my money.
