OP-- very nice shots! I love star trails. I have never tried this, but I have heard if you do numerous short exposures, like 30-40 30 second shots instead of one long exposure, and use a freeware program to stack them all together, you get a much cleaner result with almost none of the noise that you get from one long exposure. I will have to try it sooner or later and let you know!
Can you post the second one at a higher res? its really nice.
