Sony a900, end every single one of these pics was taken with a Zeiss 24-70mm f/2.8. I also have a cheapo 10x macro effect filter I used for the close ups.

I don't even own a flash.. I need to remedy that, times two. I also need the Sony G-Series 70-400mm f/4-5.6 lens to add to my kit, but of course it only costs $1600.

    ..and a decent tripod

Let me know what are your personal favs of the entire thread so I can get ideas of what to print for possible sales. AND, if you would personally like to purchase a print of any of these photos let me know! I can do up to 40"x60" on various surfaces, including canvas.

Come on people. If you were to pick three photos you would personally like to hang on your wall, which ones would they be?

Thanks! Keep 'em coming. It's difficult for me to judge which have the most marketable potential from behind the lens.

The humming bird photo.Must be quite difficult to get a good shot of them

The rattle snake for sheer bravery

And the B&W of your daughter-I know how difficult it is to capture good pics of 2 yr olds.Maybe tougher than humming birds.

Ooh,hang on. That is the throb of a turbocharged flat four engine. A sound which, all over the world, heralds the imminent arrival of a moron - JC.

Haha.. actually, it was a water moccasin, more aggressive than rattle snakes. My wife and I were going on a walk and we found this neat little cove to chill in.. after about a minute my wife was like, "ohh hey, there's a snake right there". He was just chillin about three feet from us. After I took his picture he decided to book it. She had no idea what kind it was and how poisonous they are, otherwise she probably would have freaked.

The humming birds are especially hard because I [still] don't own a flash. So I had a shop light set up on the feeder and my camera on a tripod about 3' away taking exposures with my remote. That was one of the best out of about 50 shots, lol.

As a professional photographer I get asked to critique work all the time. I feel like its such an awkward request. There are things here people would "critique" that I looked at and thought well I really like that.

The best thing I was ever taught was to learn all the "rules" then break them and find your own voice.

    Good work man, keep shooting!

Yeah, critiquing isn't an easy thing. A lot of comments I get are like to reshoot from a different angle, etc. Which I normally can't do because most of my pictures aren't just sitting in my back yard waiting for someone to squeeze the shudder. Although I keep the comments in mind for the next time I'm in a similar situation so I can apply them then.

No not at all. I have and all of our photographers here use the MK2 which is pricey. But for everyday use, getting my kids or whatever I see daily I sold my Panasonic GF1(which I highly recommend) to use my iPhone soley. I can show you some work that is phenomenal of my iPhone.

Now if you're serious about it, it helps to have a prosumer. But not just to "take good photos"
