That may be it. Conflicting S/Ns.

Either way I think uninstalling and reinstalling is the way to go. I've heard of some hang-ups on CS4 but never had issue with mine (knock on wood).
i had cs-2 on my old computer that had XP but when i got my new computer, it didnt work with vista.. so i was using the trial version of CS3.. until my cousin gave me cs4 disks.. but i never deactivated cs3. so maybe that is the problem.

btw- do you guys know how to read the hijackthis results? like if i PM you the logfile can you take a look at it?

Bah, I give you credit for attempting CS4. I have it at work and I HAAAATE it. Total memory suck. And they rearranged all my toolbars! But enough with my resistance to change...

If all else fails, PirateBay -> CS4 Hacker -> new serial number.

Then if it gives you the "serial number not valid" error again you know it's the comp. Maybe it is time to save your worthwhile files and reboot the whole thing.

Weren't you getting weird viruses when accessing ClubDub n' other sites recently? Perhaps it's all related?

Sidenote: no matter how good your computer is, it will always fail to support WoW in max settings! When I played I rebuilt my computer 3 times during the year to make it better/stronger/faster, but sometimes ya just can't keep up with these things.

A CS3 install should not cause a problem for CS4. Weird - I had CS2 on Vista and 7 with zero issues.

    PM me the log.

Shouldn't have anything to do with it. CS4 should still work and replace the older version as your main photoshop access. However you still will be able to access CS3 (if you should ever want).

At work I have Photoshop 6.0 and CS4 on my computer. Sometimes when I'm fed up with CS4's slowness I just go old school. LOL

System restore can jack things up too. If PS installed any special drivers they could have been removed or over written during the restore.

Memory in use is a good thing - the app can do more. CS4 default is 60% maximum of available RAM - this is adjustable.

I kinda like the different toolbar options although I use Illustrator and InDesign more than anything. You can do a custom one ya know

Yes, any recent key generator / hack must be handled with great caution as they now are a prime way of spreading PC cooties. Didn't used to be that way ...

You are better staying away from them.

Oh BTW, that reminds me, in Vista MS changed how memory is used. Rather then paging out items, it attempts to keep as much as possible in memory and retrieves more when it has space, less page more physical.

It is even better in 7. I have a 64 bit system with 6GBs of RAM. Pagefile? Bah!

Physical is always better. Ready Boost with a flash drive will wake up an older slow PC.
