Old navy ships are fun. I've visited the Battleship North Carolina on more than one occasion, and once spent the night on the WWII vintage USS Yorktown. (aircraft carrier)

    Great pics!

    Great pics!
    Thanks
Definitely had fun, I had no idea how massive they were especially on the inside. It took my dad and I over 2 hours to walk the whole ship. We also went aboard the USS Drum Submarine, looked pretty big from the outside but fairly tiny on the inside.

IIRC The pics of the tanks and what not were taken from like the 5th floor in the tower of the Battleship so they came out a little blurry with my little point and shoot.

She has 52 20mm guns, 48 40mm guns, 20 5" caliber guns, and 9 16" caliber guns that shot massive 1900lb projectiles up to 22 miles

Thanks, the plane is soo massive I wasn't able to get a picture of the entire thing. It does hold a world speed record and an altitude record. Also it is the only manned, jet-powered aircraft to exceed Mach 3.

-July 28, 1976: World absolute speed record- 2,193 mph
-July 28, 1976: World absolute record for sustained altitude- 85,069 feet
-September 1, 1974: New York to London- 1 hour 55 minutes 42 seconds
    -March 6, 1990: Los Angeles to Washington, D.C.- 1 hour 4 minutes 2 seconds

Nothing like living in LA and telling your buddy in DC you will meet him in an hour

Cool, They had a blocked off area for Cub Scouts on the USS Alabama too. That would be really fun to do.

Well from what i under stand that was as fast as the pilot was able to go without blacking out. So im guessing it can go faster if you could get someone to take the speed.

I'm sure if could go faster but how much is the big question. IIRC the takeoff weight is above 100,000lbs, like 120ish? and max thrust is 65,000lbs
