    I have not but seriously doubt its merits. I have used those type of ball and socket connections before and dunno how well they'd really work on a heavy dslr. I'd be happily proven wrong.

    Currently I just use my tripod in the collapsed position when wanting a "compact" solution. Best part, my tripod was only $20. Fry's electronics is awesome.

    they have different models of the joby tripod. they have an SLR specific one that holds 6.5lbs.

    My question is mostly with long term use if anyone has had problems from the socket design. I dont question how well it would work with the smaller point and shoot cameras, but wonder when you start using the SLR's how well they hold up down the road.
