Great shots as usual Armin!
I looove the B&W shots as I like the difference in tones that b&w offers.

All of the shots are very good. Always impressed.
I wondering what the goofy blue light is on the cropped city shot. You can see it in the orginal too. Maybe it's the blue light of the aliens??
This message printed on 100% recycled electrons.
There's a bunch of weird lights on the buildings...that's my only explanation. It could be aliens though too![]()

nice work as usual!
The B&Ws - were they shot like that in-camera (I'm not familar enough yet with the D200, or did you convert them in PS?
If PS, which method did you use? They are really nice & sharp and contrasty (though in some spots it looks like it was at the cost of some blown out highlight areas unfortunately).

I actually used an action that I downloaded by Mike Spotts on the dpreview forums. I normally do the lab color => greyscale method but I've had good luck with Mike's actions (which use the channel mixer and curves) so I just stuck with it.

Sweet, I will have to check that one out. Is it pretty intuitive? I've always done my conversions manually with channel mixer, and that ends up taking me quite a while to get a conversion that I'm happy with. I love finding useful free actions. There's quite a few I use from thelightsright.com that are bodacious.Originally Posted by Verdugo

Hmmm I wouldn't say intuitive. It was pretty much hit play and it worked right. I didn't bother trying to tweak them. His set also comes with a really good Velvia Film replicator, and a really interesting alternate sharpening method.Originally Posted by chanwahyaoh

is that the sharpening with layer masks & high pass filters? Thelightsright.com has those actions, and Kelby describes doing them manually in his PS book, but MAN - does it take up a lot of memory & storage...Originally Posted by Verdugo
