Ok I think I made my decision and I'm going to go with a Canon EOS 20D. What is the best all around lens to get with said camera? I was looking at this deal > http://www.thecamerapros.com/prodeta...did=185&up=154

yep, i was posting that because the price should drop.

MSRP is $100 less than the 20D was for the body. so $1400 and $1500 if you add the 18-55mm lens.

the review in Pop Photo pretty much put it...
"should you trade in your perfectly good 20D for a 30D? since teh image quality should be the same for both, no."

For a body only, they sell the 20D for a price hundreds less than anywhere else. I'd be suspicious. Are the a canon authorized dealer?

Not sure. I was just shopping around when I came across this. Thats the first thing I thought too. But it would appear they move a lot of stuff. But who knows. Anyone know a good place to pick up a camera in the Chi-town area, near Napperville ? I usually don't buy stuff like this over the interweb because I can't see whats going on with my own eyes. But it appears that you can get some WAY better prices on camera stuff.

There's good, trustworthy mail order places. B&H Photo is top-notch. I buy all kinds of stuff from them, including stereo equipment, cameras, etc. They are canon authorized, I believe.

didn't look at the link until now.

i bet the price is low because it doesn't include the battery, charger, or manual. some places that you see the body for hundreds less often do this.

in teh product description it lists:
    EOS 20D Digital Camera Body
Canon 28-105mm Auto Focus USM Lens
Canon 75-300mm Auto Focus USM Lens
    512MB Compact Flash Card
Deluxe Lens Care and Maintenance Package
    Deluxe Digital Camera Carrying Case
    Compact Flash Card Reader
    Full Size Tripod
Pack of Deluxe Screen LCD Protector
    Cap Keeper
notice no battery, or charger. they'll then hit you up for the extra $
