it was announced on Nov 1st, i pre-ordered on Nov 5th, from Ritz Camera online (free shipping no tax). according to a thread on Nikonians, the cutoff date (from Ritz) to fill the pre-orders was Dec 15th. i think that if one didn't pre-order (from anywhere) will have to wait until the 2nd round of shipments (late Jan - early Feb) also looked at local stores in the area and most had 10-15 pre-orders.

still playing with the settings, but i know that you will love the D200.

here are some high ISO shot all hand held & i think i has NR at the default setting.

    1600

    800

    400

    here's a couple at 100

    and an in-camera B&W:

Awesome! I don't have mine on pre-order, but that's probably a good thing...can't afford it right now

yep, x-mas/b-day. the wife & i are unconventional like that. reason that i got it as soon as i did was because teh wife wanted a laptop for X-mas & didn't want to wait.

Nice deal you guys have. I got a rather large birthday present recently and I had to wait until my birthday to use it. "If you use it before your birthday it's not special." My wife is so silly sometimes.

I'll be hoping for some level of DSLR next Christmas, I'd be happy with a D50 to start. My wife swears I'm getting no more presents for a couple of years. Next year is her 30th so I'm going to have to do something special for her. Maybe I'll by her a D200...
