a couple 4th of july shots

Here's just a few of the couple hundred shots I took of the DC fireworks and one of the dozen helicopters that flew over.

PS: They're all hand held shots too.

Beautiful fireworks shots, Jim. Really dig the second one with the orange reflection on the water. Post Card shot, there.

    Peace,

    Curtis

Thanks man! It was difficult to get the vertical shots like that because there was a guys head in the dark spot down on the left side. I have about 100 shots with a dark outline of a head in that lower corner that I'll have to crop out if I want to use the picture.

I just wish the wind were a little stronger that night. The shots from the end of the night are not all that spectacular because they're in a big grey cloud of smoke. Oh well... maybe next time, and maybe next time I'll have my tripod so I don't have to shoot at ISO 1600. Live and learn...

Yeah, it would be cool to be out on a boat in the water, as long as you have shade...it was HOT that day. But, I wasn't on the water. I was on the ground across the river from the monuments (just off the GW Parkway). There are a bunch of boats out there on the Potomac though. Plenty of planes flying by landing at National too.

Thanks. I was shocked at how well most of my shots came out. I cannot believe I forgot to bring my tripod.

Thanks! When i shrunk it down at work (to make it small enough to post) it got really jagged, unfortunately.

It was really neat to have them flying over so close to us. I'll have to post up the Homeland Security and Presidential helicopter shots I have too.

The guy flying the president's copter had it almost sideways, playing around over the river.
