How did you get a fast enough shutter speed in such low lighting? High ISO and cleaned up the shot afterward with PS? Or do you have rediculously large aperture lenses?

Some of Kumiko pictures I used my flash with omni-bounce, with a 1/100 shutter speed and ISO 500. Even still, in RAW conversion I upped the exposure levels and then Noise Ninja'd. For the pictures without the flash (Angela's manager made sure that I didn't use one), I used a 1/60 shutter speed with ISO 1000...with appropriate exposure bump and Noise Ninja'd. Both flash and non-flash were done at f/8 on my kit 18-70mm lens.

Weird, I posted a reply, but it didn't show up. Anyway...what I wrote was something like this:

I'm surprised you could get such non-blurry shots at 1/60 when taking pics of someone who's moving around. Was she still for those pictures or are you just bending the rules of physics when you take pictures?

And you're kit lens is defintely clearer than mine.

Haha believe me, there were more than a few that were damn blurry...but I still got a good 120-130 shots that are usable of her. Some of them she was definitely moving (the dancing one) but most were when she was at least standing still.

So you took 120-130 pictures in RAW that are good to use...how many did you take overall? And what size memory card(s) do you have? I can barely fit 140-150 RAW on my 1 gig.

wow when i shoot concerts i am usually at 1600 iso and shoot with my 80-200 at 1/250th of a second at f2.8. i've never had the luxury of shooting with much dof at a concert.
i'll shoot at 1/200th and maybe just a tad lower if i need to, but its tough with all the movement on stage and the long lens. i'll shoot at 800 or 1000 iso if i can, but thats rare. and i NEVER use flash at concerts... unless its some local show where there isnt any lighting on the stage. using your flash kills all of the the awesome lighting already in front of you... its not easy but definitely take advantage of that and dont just flatten it out with a flash.
i'll see if i can find some of my concert stuff and post it up... dont expect anything amazing though.

I took around 320 or so for the first Kumiko/Angela show, and then another 200 or so for the last Kumiko-only concert during the closing ceremonies. I have a 2 GB card but transferred all my pictures to my laptop after the first concert. Thus, I ended up with about 120 good, usable Kumiko pictures and about 50 usable Angela pictures.

Yeah, I noticed the flash got rid of all the nice lighting, which is why on the 2nd Kumiko concert (where she's wearing the wings) I didn't use the flash at all.

I am amazed at these pics, very nice

How you got such great pics in such bad lighting is completely beyond my comprehension.
