My Cel is on in my 2002 WRX and the code is P1596 Automatic transmission diagnosis input signal circuit high input. The thing is that my car has a manual transmission, not an automatic. If anyone could give me suggestions on how to fix this problem it would be appreciated.

It's an electrical issue. What mods do you have? What work did you do recently?

I installed a cat-back exhaust two days ago. That is the only mod on the car.

Did you knock loose the electrical connector on the top of the gearbox near the bottom edge of the firewall?

I just bought the car a month ago and it looks like the previous owner hacked into that connector. So that is proably the problem. Thanks for the help.

OK great, at least that's a possible lead to the issue. Good luck.
