Resetting Stock Alarm

I bought my 2002 WRX a few weeks ago and it didn't come with any keyless entry remotes. Well, I bought a couple off ebay and they arrived yesterday. I went to program them using the instructions I found here at clubWRX, but the car is not responding. According to the instructions, after flicking the ignition from "lock" to "on" 10 time in 15 seconds, the car is supposed to honk once. Well, my car never honks at me. Therefore, I can't program the remotes.

My security light is flashing two times quickly, which I read means that it is in "valet mode." To disarm valet mode, you need the keyless remote. Well, mine don't work. Will the car not allow reprogramming if it's in valet mode? If so, is there any way for me to reset it, or does the dealer have to do it? I'd much rather do it myself for free, if possible.

Well, after reading what the valet mode does (disarms alarm but allows the keyless entry to work) it looks like I want to leave it as is, since without the remote working I have no way to turn off the alarm. But that brings it back to my original problem - why isn't the car responding to the reprogramming sequence?

The horn does sound once when I lock the doors using the power door lock, so I know the wiring/programming has to be in there...

I took it to the Subaru dealer and they were able to program the remotes correctly. Plus, they did it for free. Yay!
