radar questions

i know the valentine 1's are the best but what's a good cheap one to get me buy for now, i plan on getting a V1 for christmas and the cheaper radar dector is getting demoted to my work car once i get a v1 for my wrx, i was lookin at a cobra 747 are they any good, they seem to have some decent features

Cobras are worthless.......all of them. The Valentine One is the best and is the only detector I would get if I was going to get one. Let me tell you one thing though, radar detectors are useless. I job shadow with a police department and I had a long discussion about them with multiple officers. He told me if you do get pulled over you automatically get a ticket and they will not give you a break if they see it. Some cops get mad at people that have them and they will find another reason other than speeding to pull you over and bother you. Also, if a cop wants to write a speeding ticket he is going to be smart enough to use the hold mode on the gun. I gunned a person today in hold mode and we gave them a speeding ticket for going 29 over and guess what? He had a radar detector. That was really worth the hundreds of dollars. The cop said "if he didn't have that he would have let him off with just a warning".

I got a whistler 975. there text and fairly good. no problems as of yet. just know some cars don't like there radar detectors and give false signals. oh try ebay I got a 975 for a buddy once for $10.00

V1 w/ concealed display here, best $440 i ever spent!

so far its protected me once, ive had her since like august but i dont drive much cause im in Boston. i was home in NY at night and i made a right turn up a road and after like 2min my V1 went off, loud, full lights, i figured it was picking up something from a house or whatever since it tends to pick up everything. but i saw car headlights behind me that looked a lil too square for my liking, so i did 30mph all the way down the road (long ass road), it went off a few times, then would stop, then after a min go off again. i go to the end of the road and theres a traffic light, i make a left, look in my side mirror, YUP, state trooper had been following me.

V1's are sweeeet..... I live in the city of L.A. so, it pick's up everything especially supermarkets, banks etc. @ one point didn't know what sound it makes if it pick up a radar so, i was driving down the street 3rd St. on the way home all the sudden couple blocks! why is it going crazy but it had a different tone like brap, brap, brap sure was a motorcycle cop with the radar gun pointing at me

so, i'd say Valentine 1

saved me many times. only thing is LIDAR will always get you. i think they help, but also the driver needs to be aware and responsible.
