I, too, was a HUGE Metallica fan through high school, though I never played guitar. I don't listen to them nearly as much as I used to. My musical tastes have broadened quite a lot (I listen to pretty much every style of music), but I still think that good old hard rock/heavy metal is best for fast, hard driving in the WRX.
    I'll second that!

I like listening to one particular song most of the time. It's called Spool by Scoob Flat4. It's sort of like this German techno with crazy bass and sounds like this:

    "Brurrr bruurrr....brurrrrrrrrrrr psst brurrrrr psst..."
In the background you have, "wrrssssssss"

Hehehe...I tend not to listen to music when I drive. I listen to classical music when I have to wait for someone while parked! Meanwhile when I do listen, it ranges and includes Linkin Park(who can resist), Rammstein, the Run Lola Run(Lola Rennt) soundtrack, Cardigans, etc

Garbage - their music kinda fits the rex's personality. I especially like "As Heaven Is Wide."

Also, on 2.0 "Special" is a great song to spin the wheel to:

    As of this week.....

-Sue's Last Ride - Dirty Three
-First movement of Borodin's String Quartet #1
-Thats When the Razor Cuts Down - Guitar Gansters

I should just make a cd with those three tracks and play it over and over again, and if someone would buy me an unlimited gas card, I would never leave my car!

    Essential Mix

Global underground discs are good. Deep Dish, Nick Warren, Oakenfold, Danny Tenaglia, but be careful, youll find yourself doin well over the speedlimit after a few tracks
