Disable auto unlock on 2002 WRX?

I recently found out that 2002 WRX's have a feature that unlocks the doors when the key is removed from the ignition.
Has anyone disabled the automatic unlock? If so please Please share how you did it.

Mine doesn't do that either. Do you have an aftermarket alarm on the car? Some alarms do that.

I am trying to help out a friend track down an issue on his 2002 WRX. The car was purchased used and has alarm stickers on the windows but it must have been taken out.

The car doors unlock when the key is taken out of the ignition. This also happens when the turbo timer finishes counting down and the car shuts off. Anyone have any ideas as to how this is happening?

mine, when i put it in D it locks the doors and when i paark it unlocks!
