    Paid for itself already. Odd thing happened the other day though. I was braking for an onramp when I got a laser alert. Normally, this means that if one is in violation, one is about to be violated - the alert comes too late to be any good. But I was braking for a sharp bend and going much slower than the limit, plus there was mild traffic too. I wonder what possessed whoever was lurking around to have a look at me -- the car or curiosity or boredom? No lights, no ticket in mail, no nothing. Go figure.

    my brother got tagged driving my car at 7am in the morning 2 exits away from his house after a 18 hr drive....but i like to think thats a little excuseable.

    The Escort 8500 is a great radar detector, I've had one for years and it's always served me well.

    Have they made improvements on those? I remember when I got my first, I was told to stay away from the cordless because they aren't quite as effective...and batteries....ew!

    I have the solo s2, I looked it up when I was getting it. It's range is almost as good as the 8500. It's saved my ass more times than I can count.

    I bought the V1 2 weeks after purchasing my '03 wrx. In the 3 years that I've owned it and the car, I have yet to receive a ticket for speeding (or driving... aggressively) which I am known to do. The directional arrows let me detect speed traps, if there are units coming up from behind me, and how many there are. It is expensive, and a cheaper detector may work fine, but I think the peace of mind is worth every penny.

    Sorta OT... Anyone try that Phazer 2 thing? It is supposed to be a "legal" radar/laser jammer.
