i am teh jelious. i only designated $300 so far for a set, but im looking at more money also because i want a straight odometer transfer with all the proper paperwork, no idea how much thats gonna cost me yet

Yeah, I planned on doing the odo, but I really don't plan on selling the car. When I'm ready for a new one this one will hopefully end up as a track car. The cost was tough -- there's no way I'd have spent the money if my stock gauges weren't fubarred, and as much as I love them, I still wouldn't. But as long as I was going to have to spend a few hundred on gauges (no way I was going to 02/03), I figured I might as well spend a couple hundred more and get what I wanted. The only problem is now my center gauges don't match..

I have an Sti and thinking to change it to blue like the VW GOLF interior.

Any suggestions or experience?

After my experience with modding gauges, I'd say don't bother.. but if you do, please don't do anything that requires taking the glass off the front. Especially with STi guages.

i dont think anyones tried it, and, please, dont be the first. qoncept and i both did bad bad things to our gauges when trying to convert colors. dont get us wrong theres a lot of memebers that sucessfully performed the mod, but theres a few that are having problems with them now. your STi gauges never did any harm to you leave em alone

Shift light works without any problems.. just plug and play.

Don't do it, you won't be able to see your needles!! There's a whole interior lighting thread over on iClub and a coulpe '04 guys tried switching out the clear incandescents with blue LED's and none of them could see their needles.

If you scraped off all the red film, you might be able to see the needles with blue LED's, but I wouldn't risk it. I too cleared my '04 guages and they came out great, but my buddy who was helping me f'ed up my tach cause he accidentally pushed the needle INTO the needle control motor. I tried to recalibrate it, but I think when the needle got pushed into the face, something inside the cluster broke that is supposed to keep the needle in place. I'm currently working on getting an STi cluster.

On second thought, I'll trade ya if you want. Already cleared '04 gauge cluster for your STi cluster. You wouldn't have to do any of the work except switch out the bulbs!!!!

Seriously though, don't mess with your gauges. They are unrepairable if you break'em.
