    Gauge Cluster Question

FirepowerGSX asked me this question in a PM, so I am now asking all of you for help.

What color is the lights in the '04 gauge cluster for a normal WRX? Green?

And would a '04 gauge cluster fit in an '02 wagon? Do you think it is a direct swap? The reason is, he wants the RPM's to be in the middle like the 04's.

    Please let me know.

Bump for a good question. I believe they are a direct swap, not sure about the color.

    These colors are correct.

I hear there are "complications" swapping an '04 STi cluster with the '02's and '03's, but it can be done. I don't know about the WRX clusters. I believe the '04 WRX and STi cluster's are physically the same size and bolt pattern, buy I'm not entirely sure.

Good luck on the guage swap!! The tach being centered is one of my favorite changes on the '04's.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the replys.

I'm still amazed that Autometer sells a gauge bezel that requires you to cut away the stock cluster just to fit the gauges in their place.

FYI, the mechanical pressure gauges don't fit w/o cutting the plastic on the stock instrument cluster, which spurred my looking into a second cluster, which led to finding out the '04's had the tach in the middle, as evey sports car should be.

I'm still trying to find a decent price on an '04 cluster. I found the '02 clusters for $225, but now I'm set on having the tach in the middle.

Keep in mind that the milage goes along with the cluster...

Yeah, after I searched I found a lot of other complaints as well.

Yeah, with 70k on my odometer I am not too worried.

FYI, I have the 2 gauge cluster that sits in the gauge bezel that is made by Autometer on my car. It fit perfect. All I had to do was to clean up the flash that was on the edges of the 2 gauge cluster that was left over from the forming process. I think the only reason why it won't fit Firepowers WRX is because he is running mechanical gauges.
