    Smile My planned stereo setup

I think this setup should be decent.

    - Alpine 9830 Head Unit - $239 on sale
    - Alpine V12 500 Watt mono amp - $190 from craigslist
    - Alpine V12 200 Watt 4 channel amp - $199 on sale
    - Polk MOMO mm12 sub w/enclosure - $149 on sale at fry's
    - Fosgate multi-amp wire kit - $48+17s/h from ebay
    - Directed Audio Neodymium 6.5" Components s650 - $185 from nexxon.com's old site (hopefully they still have these in stock)
    - 4" speakers in the rear - $50?
    - Installation - $180

    Total: $1257 Doh!

I actually didn't get the components yet. They're neodymium, so I think the depth should be ok. Any suggestions for other 6.5" components?

Looks like a good system but you could also get 5 1/4" speakers for the rear instead of the 4".

Have you heard the Directed Audio speakers in person? A few other speakers come to mind for that price..

Nope, haven't heard them, but they got pretty good reviews. What else can I get for under $200 that's decent? I"m looking for good sound quality, but I'm not an audiophile. I also want an easy install, so I would prefer not to have to cut the door for a thick magnet. I thought having Neodymium magnets would help because it's stronger, so the depth wouldn't be as much as a normal speaker.

I know a lot of people who swear by CDT component speakers. Maybe check out prices for a good 6.5" set from them.
