If you remove the cup holder you can pull the HVAC bezel with your fingers. One screw. I did the head unit install and the red change at the same time. I didn't use condoms though, unsafe sax?, and used a red Sharpie. It matches the dash and looks good almost a year later.

Sorry, I'm retro and don't own a camera, or cell phone for that matter...

You pull off the green condoms and coat the bulb with ink. The original post must have been on Nabisco. I don't go there very often now. They ticked off a bunch of STi owners last fall...

For all the world the pen does look like the condoms.

it does not seems like the condoms people were talking about. looks more like an actual bulb. also, do i buy the first row 74 bulb or the second row?

I did my HVAC blue the other day and they turned out so dark... are there LEDs I can buy or and trick to make then brighter?

yes there are...
you have to trim them to make them fit...
seems that they are bright..

the only thing is that scraping the green film off will make them brighter....but you have to without taking the needles off and with this plastic thing around them...probably a little tough, but you can get it...it's better than messing the needles up

i read in the othe forum use #74 blubs in for the gauges. he use 8 #74 blubs on his gauges but his car is a auto.

is it also 8 #74 blubs for a 5 speed?

Ok, so I've taken out my gauge cluster and I can get the clear plastic cover and inner bezel off, but I can't get to the back of the gauge face plate to scrape the green film off. When I take the white housing off the back of the gauges, I'm stuck with the circuit board in my way. What do I do? Is there a way to get the circuit board off without damaging the cluster?

the circuit board is held on by the back of the needles motor...

all you have to do is make pull a good amount gently on the fuel/temp side first to loosen it...then do the middle, then the other side..till they are loose..
i was afraid, but was careful and it'll be fine.
