    just don't start slamming them hard right away. turn the amp's gain to where you're gonna have it all the time, and just go really easy with the bass for the first coupl'a hours/days.

    Yep. Try to get at least 5 hours of normal play time with the gains set low, and once that's past, I like to gradually increase the output over time. The key thing is not to crank the subs and max out the excursion.
