    LED Dash and gauges

I finally decided to convert all of my dash and temp controls to LEDs and also to install my new Blitz BLM gauges and carbon fiber gauge pod. Sorry if some of the pics are fuzzy but my camera holds the exposure open for a long time when set for night.

I moved my turbo timer to just below the center vents. All I did was drill three holes and make a cut out for the display. I am going to add the protective plastic for the screen... one of these days.

I got all of my leds from autolumination.com... The list consisted of 12 #74 bulbs in clear focused, blue (they will be the first ones at the top of the pages) and 4 #194 bulbs in focused opaque, blue. The cost was $42.46 including shipping for all of the bulbs.

You will need to modify the 194's to fit in the temp controls. Just trim the flat parts that go into the slots. You can use wire cutters... I did. the 74's will be for your instrument cluster. These require no modification to fit. I also used a #74 for my key ring light.

Now you dont need to buy this many bulbs but I wanted to get some spares.

They are not as bright as the pics would suggest. They are actually dim, which is what I wanted. They are not so dim that you cant see everything at night. Let me suggest this..... If you still have the stock bulbs in, turn them to the second or third dim level. This will give you an idea of how bright they are.

You are right Tan. I did this because I love the way my bro's vw dash looks. Hell I wish I had my bro's golf because he just got new 18's and an ottinger body kit. It looks sick.

Is there any way to make the bulbs brighter than that, or are there any other bulbs you know of which are a bit brighter? (I usually keep my dash on the brightest setting). Thanks.

Really sweet look by the way

Honestly I couldnt tell you if they make ones that are brighter. I tried to find the easiest way to put in LEDs and I found these where the easiest.

Just run a search for LEDs on this forum and you sould find alot on this mod.
