Racecomp engineering said there's no difference between the JDM STI and the JDM Spec C (V8's), however the JDM seats are ~ 20lbs each lighter than the USDM ones.

Well I don't have V8 sti type ra spec C seats, I have the V7 seats. And according to a few experts, they are lighter. I'll get the weight for you though, just for the hell of it.

    bump for my old thread
switched over to V7 seats from the V8 and, wow, they are even tighter!
leg bolsters are slightly shorter (no cramping of front-held wallets) and side bolsters are another 1/2" or so tighter on each side
also the non-height-adjustable left seat sits about 1/2 or 1" lower

the usdm sti seats are the same as the 04+ wrx seats but just have the sti covers on then...the jdm seats have bigger bolsters, are narrower and have the bolster for your thighs

I don't know if I just haven't seen many other seats, but my seats in my 05 rex have thigh bolsters and side bolsters and hold fairly well. They look like the seats in the pics without the bolster between the legs and smaller side bolsters. They feel pretty snug, but I have yet to sit in some nice racing seats. Maybe I'm just not cornering fast enough
My poor tranny!... someone sell me an aspen white 06 sti.

My stock 04 WRX seats did feel a bit different from my present USDM STi seats. They were heated but the material just seemed to grab more and I could feel the bolster digging into me more in the WRX seats that in the STi seats. Are you sure the cover is the only difference? I could have kept my heated seats and looked like an STi?

yes they're exactly the same except for the fabric. i had the USDM seats for a couple weeks before i switched to a JDM seat. whether or not it would be easy to keep the heater elements i don't know. you would have to completely remove the covers which you will need to remove a bunch of metal rings to do. it would be something like installing leather seat covers. i just said forget it... i don't really like the heaters anyway
