aftermarket speakers with stock HU

Has anyone changed the speakers while keeping the stock hu? How is the sound compared to the stock speakers?

I swapped mine out for some Kenwood 3 ways in the front and 2ways in the back. I also have the OEM Sub. It's not a concert hall, but it's much better than stock.

Note, I had to make spacers to mount the front speakers.. not hard if you're handy with a jigsaw, but it's hard to find speakers that will drop in the front.
