    Factory Boost Gauge

Hey i was just wondering if anyone has done this or not. I would like to put an aftermarket boost gauge in where the stock one is on the steering column. How hard do you think it is and how can it be done. I ripped apart one that i had at my work and it looks pretty weird then any other boost gauge that i have installed.

i have the column mounted gauge, and i'm installing another on the other side of the column for EGT.

i believe it's a 43mm hood, but some say a 45mm gauge can be squeezed in there.

i'm looking at usuing a 45mm Omori EGT, and possibly switching the boost to an Omoro 45mm at a later date.

I have the omori gauges and they look/work nice. From what I know they won't fit in the stock pod.

I've got a 45mm Omori Electric boost gauge in the stock rubber cup. It's a heck of alot better than the factory Lameco, but 45mm Omori's are harder to find than icicles in Florida and 45mm, being bigger than the stock cup, is like squeezing Chris Farley into a speedo. It can be done, but it's not easy.

I'm upgrading soon to a Defi 52mm unit though. Omori is the only gauge I've found that'll fit... Unfortunately, none of the really good manufactures (like Defi) make gauges that small.

Can you use the factory wiring? Not totally. There's only two wires that go to the Lameco gauge because of Subaru's funky wiring system (the same reason aftermarket gauges won't dim). IIRC, when I wired up my Omori, I had to use part of that wire and some other to get everything I needed... but I can't totally remember. It's been some time since I installed my Omori gauge.

As far as mounting the pod somewhere else, the '04s put the pod on the left hand side so it doesn't cover the speedo/odo. You certainly can do it, but it will leave you a couple holes on the right hand side (if you already have the gauge there).

Here's the instructions for installing the stock pod and gauge...

And here's the parts for the gauge kit...

    Hope that helps.
