    Subaru Security light flash.

Does anyone know if it is possible to stop the flash of the lighting circuit when you lock/unlock the subaru security system?
I want the horn to chirp, but no flashing lights.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

I don't have the wiring diagram in front of me, but I would assume there's a wire that controls each (since you can turn off the horn but keep the lights flashing). Perhaps if you simply switched those two wires, and put it in "silent" mode, you'd have what you wanted?

Its in the stock manual...For mine, i have had it in valet mode and never knew why the lights werent flashing...then i read the book and found out that it was in valet mode and switched it back to normal. I believe you press and hold both buttons at one time but I know for sure its in the manual for the car.

If your lights are flashing and you don't want them to, then you can put your alarm in valet mode. This is done by opening the drivers door only and holding down both buttons for more than 3 seconds (the indicator light will flash). If you want the light to flash then you have to do the above steps to disable valet mode.

okay - maybe I should be more specific.
I want the security system to work, but no light flash.
Valet mode disables the security system.

ClubWRX to the rescue!! Somehow I managed to put my alarm into valet mode. Don't remember doing it, but I did. Couldn't figure out why the security light was flashing and was about to contact the dealer. I decided to check the best WRX site out there and got my answer. This site rocks!!!!

yeah security light flashing means disabled or "valet mode" I learned that when I took my car to get insured and I told them it had a shock sensor and I was banging my car and alarm wouldn't sound.....so I was pissed and later found out it was valet mode hehe

OK, so how many modes are there?
Mine wasnt doing anything except the cockpit lights came on when activating the alarm.
I just did the "door open, depress both buttons x 3 second" procedure and now the car beeps once for lock and twice for unlock?
What are the "flashing lights"? Outside lights?
Can you set it to beep and flash the lights?
And, why is the security light blinking whether it is locked or unlocked??

the lights they are talking about, i beleive, are the turn signals flashing when yu lock/unlock the car. Valet mode and turning off the chirp are different. Yu can have both the chirp and lights at once, or nothing at once. The back of the keypad should have the instructions for turning on/off the chirp, and like they said, the manual has the instructions for valet mode

    Got it,
Although I got the audible chirp working, it was still in valet mode with the flashing security light...
Opened the door depressed ONLY the Unlock button x 2 seconds... that did it.
Now it is out of valet mode, lights blink and horn chirps
Nice setup for customizing just how you want the alarm to work.
