    power sources for gauges

I got my gauges and everything but I just need to know where I can get the power sources. Here's a list that I came up with:

1)where can I tap for 12 volt power when the ignition is on
2)where can I tap for 12 volt power when the lights(headlights) are on
3)where is the vaccuum line for the boost
4)where is a good fuel pressure source for sender

Any other suggestions would be cool. Thanks in advance.

If you're talking about indiglo gauges, use the headlight source. Otherwise, you'll have lighting problems when going to turn them on. If my memory is in tact, it's a red and black wire you want to splice into. You'll find this wire around where the steering wheel area, once you pull the gauge pod out.

I wrapped my power wire around my foglight fuse, and for some reason it isn't working... (this is for my boost gauge)

I know it isn't the ground... am I missing something?

Found this picture somewhere. Hope it helps a little.

Here is the photo with the fusebox wiretaps. It is located behind an access panel by your left knee when driving.

The top red wire is on with ignition. It is tapping #4.

The yellow wire is on with lights. It is tapping #12

The bottom (smaller) red wire is on all the time. It is tapping #16.

I tapped my gauges off the clock wiring... ground, power, acc, and lights all right there. Even labeled on the back of the clock for easy reference.

THough I'm still trying to get an explaination why Subaru decided to use the ground side for the dimmer of the dash light...

If you tap the clock, won't the gauge be brighter during the day, and dim at night, like the clock does?

no, that switch is not in the power feed, it's in the clock.

Ahh. Cool. Can I access the wires easily from the vent? How should them... sorry about the multiple questions.

The clock panel pops out easily. First from the back...(actually toward the front of the car, but the back as you look at it from the seat). Then from the front. The front ones are a pain, but they just pop out... might help to pop the vent and cup holder out and push from the bottom.

Thanks. The last part of my second question yesterday was "how should I get to them." Where do they run to from the clock?? Just so I'm not going in blind...

They run down into the wiring harness from the clock. I just tapped on at the clock and ran wires to my gauges. Once you put the clock back in, it's invisible anyway.

Cool. Thanks. I'll probably do that tomorrow. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I tried to connect a line to the yellow/green light of the clock and while doing so I tapped a ground wire. I quickly heard a bshhhzzz noise and when I tried to turn the clock on it didn't work.

Is it gone? I can't get any power out of the yellow/green line. Any suggestions?

I checked the Clock/Room fuse under the hood and it is fine. What is should I check? Where is the fuse box for the clock? Any pictures will greatly be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.
