    Valentine One remote display

    Greetings,

I've just hardwired in my V1 as displayed at:

    a) http://paul.the-nest.com/02_WRX_Wago...r_Detector.htm

    b)http://www.imagestation.com/album/?i...67095352&idx=1

But what to do with the remote? I don't particularly care for it as shown in (b) above. I've heard of some users installing it next to the clock up on the dash, and that seems to be an extremely elegant place to put it.

Has anyone done this, and if so, would you provide pictures (I've searched on the board but haven't found any, so if I've missed, please link to that page).

A related question: how does one get to the clock in the dash - it appears that you pull up on the lip to 'pop' out that sectional, but in attempting that, I'm afraid something will rip or break.

hello, i finally took some pics of my V1 install. maybe this'll give you an idea for what to do w/ the remote display. in addition, i mounted the radar detector in thep lace where the middle visor goes(that useless piece that hangs above the rearview mirror)

For the main unit I pulled the visor clip's metal part out and screwed it into the screw cover/mini visor above the rearview mirror. The remote's on the steering column. It's nice to put what lights up out of sight from other drivers.

My friend put his remote next to the clock on the dash. He had to do a little fabrication to move the clock all the way to the right, and the V1 remote is on the left.

Of course, if you ever plan to throw a gauge pod in there, this isn't the way to go. I didn't even notice it until he pointed it out.

I too, had the preference of installing the V1 remote display peripheral to the embedded clock. I lifted out the removable module surrounding the clock, but could find no easy way to modify the plastic holdings surrounding the clock to allow for the display, short of massive cutting of the plastic.

As of now, I have the remote directly to the right of the OEM boost gauge - it's not bad there at all.

Would you have pictures and/or descriptions as to the methodology employed by your acquaintance?

Thanks for all the replys fellas.

    Sorry, he has no pictures.

He just told me he removed the clock and marked where he wanted to cut. He used a jeweler's saw, small hacksaw blade, and files to enlarge the opening and file it clean & square.

He just kept doing that and sizing it until they fit snugly, and then used a hot-melt glue gun to bond the two pieces to each other and then to the plastic plate.

He used the "massive cutting of the plastic" method.
