i used a q-tip and nail polish remover and took the yellow off from the underside, then used a paint marker and made the underside red

I actually found a kit that will make your needles glow blue or green( I forgot what other colors are available)

I bought the kit but had a lot of difficulty installing so I gave up, but maybe you might be able to pull it off.

    Here's the link Intelliglow Needles

Hope this is helpful to somebody.

What's up with the rice police???

Glad to help, just let me know how it works out for you. I didn't care for their instructions very much so if you go through and are successful, please post pics and instructions.

Also, if anybody can find small enough colored bulb boots for the green lights in the a/c control area please let me know. I've been looking but haven't found anything.
    I am looking for blue.

Kira, I'd use the led bulbs for the hvac. They give you a true blue light. The condoms give you a aqua color.

i checked on that a while ago, the only thing is they tell you to pull your needles off to do that, and getting the needles set again is a PITA

well poping them off and back on is easy, but having them read right after you put them back on is the problem,

you will either have to mess with them a lot and try to get them right or have them calibrated, like i said in after post i took off 1 needle (temp) (lest useful) and it took about a hour to get it set back to where it should be (or close enough) once you take them off, most of the time they will stick or just read wrong, some people say that when they stick all you have to do it pull them out a little, but thats not true, but anyway whoever wants to pull there needles off and do this, i wish you luck getting them back on and reading right

Essentially each ring that goes underneath the needle is one of those tiny circles that you put on three hole punch paper to keep the holes from getting bigger. On top of this circle, there are 3 LED lights. I've attached a crappy picture I drew to show you what I am talking about.

I am wondering if you can't get around popping your needles out by making a tear on the paper o the side that doesn't have any wire running through it and maybe wrap it around the base of the needle, while tucking it underneath.

The difficulty with the installation, aside from the PITA it is to get your gauges to read correctly because they do get stuck, is also that the instructions are very generic and really don't offer a good clear guide to installing them specifically on the WRX so you do have to fill in a few blanks yourself.

But who knows, maybe somebody with a little more patience and resourcefulness can pull this off without having to remove their needles.
